The Doula

A doula mothers the mother

Doulas are trained, non-medical professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to women and birthing people before, during and after childbirth, to facilitate the most empowering and calm birth and postnatal experience.

Some doulas provide support antenatally, some during birth and others during the early postpartum period which is usually the three months following birth. My job is to support you during these early days post birth.

Here are some of the benefits of having a postnatal doula:

  • Increased likelihood of initiating breastfeeding*

  • Increased likelihood of successfully establishing breastfeeding and breastfeeding at 6 weeks*

  • Lower incidence of depressive symptomatology**

  • Improve equity and provide culturally responsive care*
