ABOUT ME

Amalia Syeda Aguirre
Post Partum Doula

I'm Amalia Yonaki (she/her). I'm a community organiser, postnatal doula and mama to Kamilo born in 2019.

Although I experienced an empowering and peaceful homebirth, I found myself struggling during the early postpartum period. Having lost my own mother a few years ago, I knew that this would be a poignant time when I would especially miss her support and guidance.

I felt compelled to learn more about how to support myself and other new parents during the postpartum and trained with the Abuela Doulas and Red Tent Doulas. This training enabled me to learn about postpartum traditions from around the world, including my own Latin American and South Asian heritage, as well as furthering my understanding of cultural competency and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.

My aim is to make new parents feel seen and heard during their journey of rediscovering themselves in a new role, while also helping them harness their innate parenting wisdom. My services are for all birthing people, inclusive of trans and non-conforming mamas and papas.

MY APPROACH

Holistic, Grounded & Individual

The early postpartum weeks are such a transitional period for many people and often bring up questions around identity. I felt as though I had become a whole new person when I had my baby but felt that there wasn't any space to explore that.

I want to enable you to find moments of quiet and stillness where you feel you can breath into your new role and fully experience the multitude of emotions that come with new parenthood.

I truly believe that when equipped with the confidence to trust in your individual parenting style, you will find your way.
